About Accents
Owner Marie
Hamilton opened Accents
in downtown Frederick,
Maryland in 1993 as Country Accents, a gift shop specializing in dried
arrangements and gift items. Since then,
the shop has expanded
their
merchandise line to include a wide variety of home accessories, gifts,
kitchenware, jewelry, garden items, and more.
Accents' style combines shabby chic, cottage, and classic items for a
fresh look that can accent any home.
Just recently, the store
has dropped "Country" from their name to more accurately reflect
their product lines and moved from East Patrick Street to Shab Row
(July 2006). In this new location, Accents can offer their
customers free parking and expanded product lines in a cozy
atmosphere.
Marie Hamilton
Owner
Marie Hamilton, the creative powerhouse behind Accents, opened the
business in 1993. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh
and has extensive experience in retail management
and floral design. Prior to opening Country Accents, she participated in a
number of local juried craft shows including Octoberfest in Thurmont, Maryland
and New Market Days in New Market, Maryland. Marie still makes the
floral arrangements and wreaths found in the shop, some with home-grown
herbs and flowers.
Marie purchases merchandise, designs all
displays and set-ups, and other day-to-day activities.
James Hamilton
Owner
James Hamilton joined his
wife, Marie, in 1993 when she opened the shop. With a background in engineering
and management, he is the financial manager and administrator for the
business. He maintains the books, manages inventory and revenue,
analyzes sales performance, and works with vendors.
His practical know-how
compliments his wife's creative flair as he shares in the day-to-day
responsibilities of running the shop.
Accents' owners employ the talents of
their children, James Hamilton and Michelle Hamilton Kershner, for
special projects as needed. James is a graphic designer and
typographer and Michelle has experience with marketing,
communications, and special events. |
